| Wine Wisdom
Q: Which wines should be served chilled and which wines should be served at room temperture?
A: A general rule of thumb when it comes to serving wine is as follows:
Champagne/Bubbly: 45-50 degrees F
White wine: 50-55 degrees F
Red wine: 55-65 degrees F
Some red wines are better chilled even further - Garnays and Beaujolais are good examples.
TIP
Need to chill wine fast? Here's a trick that doesn't risk a cracked bottle in the freezer or force you to put ice cubes in the Pinot Grigio.
Fill an ice bucket half full of ice and half full of cold water. Sprinkle the water and ice with a handful of salt and add the bottle. We won't go into the exact physics principles at work here. Suffice it to say the salt reduces the freezing point of the water, which becomes super-chilled.
