"A Touch of Glass"
February 2008 |
|
Greetings!
So... Here we are in February - the month of love, romance and chocolate! I have a very special dedication this month to the person that I am honored to call my very best friend... You see, my first date with my husband was Valentine's Day, 1980. This summer we will celebrate 24 years of marriage - and I am thankful for each and every minute that we have shared together... ( Okay, okay - almost each and every minute!
History of Love Birds and Valentine's Day:
It was believed that on this romantic day, birds found their mates. This belief is still cherished by love struck people all over the world. The sweet little blue colored lovebirds have come to signify that belief. It is said that the lovebirds can't live without their mates.
I actually came across a lot of "interesting, yet irrelevant" Valentine trivia as I was preparing this newsletter. One thing that I learned was that Taurus (myself) and Capricorn (my husband - and my dad!) are most compatible (whew!) and that the list of most popular "love nicknames" was quite disturbing. As much as I love my husband - if he starts calling me "Butterscotch"... it's over.
Cheers!

 "Words of (Wine) Wisdom"
(All "V's" in honor of Valentine's Day)
Varietal Character:
The aromas and taste sensations typical of a particular grape variety.
Velvety:
A soft, silky, lush tactile impression found in the best Burgandies and Pinot Noirs.
Vintage Date:
Refers to the year the grapes were harvested and to the wine made from those grapes. To place the vintage on the label, most wine producing regions now require that at least 95% of the wine contain grapes harvested from only that year. Wines that are blended from more than one harvest are called nonvintage wines. |

"The Customer Corner"
One day in mid-November, I got a call from a gal who had seen my monogram plates online. Well - we really hit it off and gabbed on the phone for quite some time. Later on, she decided that she wanted to add on some items for herself - and she sent me this email...
"Hi Cathy~
Once I got to thinking about my order, I was sad that I didn't order something for myself! Is it possible to add the same plate I ordered for the others with an "L" and the same glasses with an "L"? If you've got your "plate" :) full and you'd rather, I can order mine later. No pressure! My daughters were surprised you didn't show up for Thanksgiving since we hit it off so well over the phone!! I told them you would have, but you were out of town:) My smart a__ 15 yr old then asked if you were now added to the Christmas card list. I think they're just jealous they don't make friends as quickly as you and I!
Have a great day. Thought that'd be good for a laugh!
Brenda"
I wonder if her daughters know that when their mom picked up her order, she left the check in an envelope - with a Christmas card... (and we still haven't met!) |
What did the French chef give his wife
for Valentine's Day? A hug and a quiche
Why is Valentine's Day the best day for a celebration?
Because you can really "party heart-y"!
What did one light bulb say to the other?
"I love you a whole watt!" |
