Diana's Family KY Derby Pie Recipe
1 Cup Sugar
6 Tablespoons flour
2 eggs
1/2 cup margarine, melted
1 cup pecans, chopped
6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 unbaked 9" pastry shell
1 cup cream whipped
Combine Sugar and Flour; add remaining ingredients, except cream, and pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake at 325 degrees for 50-60 minutes. Serve with whipped cream. |

For those of us with ties to the Kentucky Bluegrass, it's time to place your bets! My Kentucky Derby Experience
I have been to 3 Kentucky Derby's and on each visit I was on the wrong side of the fence which is affectionately referred to as the 'infield'. You park in a neighboring home's front yard, smuggle in your beverages and watch the races. Well that was the intent, but one year the crowd was so thick, the rain so intense that I didn't even see a darn horse. The next time I go we'll be sitting with the fancy people in the stands. That may be years away, but until then I'll enjoy my Mint Julep in the comfort of my home.
