Notes from a trip to the High Point Furniture Market and this week's list of furniture. |
| Greetings!
This week wraps up the largest international home furnishing conference in the world in High Point, North Carolina. Diana traveled down there on Saturday and had three observations worth sharing:
- Manufacturers were well represented and optimistic about the coming year. Hopefully their optimism is a positive sign for our overall economy.
- Many manufacturers now have a "Green Design" which is a product offering that is considered to be healthy for the environment.
- The underlying theme represented by many of the more recognized showrooms was one of simplicity and stability. This theme was symbolized by a very retro look and feel that takes consumers back to a time when life was less complicated and the family structure was more settled. The emphasis was on getting back to a similar way of life to the that of the 1950's and 60's.
This made us pause and think, what's better for the environment, makes better sense and is simpler than buying furniture on consignment? Maybe we are on the leading edge! We hope you enjoy this week's list of great furniture:

Stickley Cherry Wood Prairie Sofa with Gold Tapestry Fabric
This is the second go around in our store for this sofa, but you probably don't recall it. It sold on our showroom floor on the first day that we had it. The customer who bought it, since has inherited furniture and felt emotionally obligated to choose her family heirlooms over this wonderful piece. This sofa sells for over $6,000 if purchased new.
