On Thursday afternoon, the U.S. Senate voted to defeat an effort (House Concurrent Resolution 36) to defund Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion business, by a vote of 42-58.  Senator David Vitter voted in favor of the resolution to defund Planned Parenthood, but Senator Mary Landrieu voted against the resolution.

Benjamin Clapper, Executive Director of the Louisiana Right to Life Federation, made the following statement:

"We are disappointed that Senator Landrieu, representing one of the most pro-life states in the nation, would vote in favor of subsidizing the nation's largest abortion business, Planned Parenthood.  Because of her vote, Planned Parenthood will continue to receive over $360,000,000 annually from taxpayers in our nation."

"We encourage the citizens of Louisiana to educate their community on the truth of Planned Parenthood and Senator Landrieu's support of the giant abortion business."
