Silver Lining in the Sotomayor Confirmation Process?

Sonia Sotomayor was confirmed today as the next Supreme Court Justice by a Senate vote of 68-31.
While LA Right to Life opposed confirmation, we saw in the entire process certain positives, including the widespread opposition to Sotomayor and the national discussion on judicial activism.
On our website, we have posted an article from the conservative Judicial Confirmation Network that discusses other potential "silver linings".

They May Be on Recess, But We Are Not! Health Care Update and Action Items for the Recess
Greetings!,
Congress may be on recess until after Labor Day, but pro-lifers must take advantage of this time to make their voices heard!Last week, a House committee moved its health care reform legislation to the floor after the defeat of all pro-life amendments ( click here to get a full update at our site). When the House considers this bill (H.R. 3200) on the floor after Labor Day, they will be voting on a measure that would fund abortion in the U.S. through tax dollars for the first time since 1976. If the Senate follows suit and the bill passes, we would see the greatest expansion of abortion since 1973. In fact, many estimates show at least 1 million lives have been saved since 1976 due to provisions preventing the tax funding of abortion. Simply put, the passage of health care reform without amendments excluding abortion funding would greatly increase the number of abortion in the U.S. During this recess, join us in stopping this health care bill and saving the lives of future unborn children. ACTION ITEMS: - Contact your Senators and Congressman (click here), especially Senator Landrieu, and ask them: "Please oppose any health care reform legislation that does not explicitly exclude abortion coverage and health care rationing."
- Write your Senators and Congressman a hand-written letter expressing your concerns (get a sample letter by clicking here).
- Get your very own "Abortion is NOT Health Care" Sign to spread the word! Click here!
- Write a "Letter to the Editor" in your local newspaper (see sample letters here).
