2012 Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Symposium

In 2012, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) and the Underage Drinking Enforcement Training Center (UDETC) will hold an Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Symposium rather than the traditional EUDL conference that has been in place since 1999. The decision to hold a symposium rather than a conference is to provide an opportunity for EUDL coordinators and invited guests to have a focused conversation about best practices, proven tools, new resources, sustainability, and next steps for the EUDL program. OJJDP intends to hold the traditional EUDL conference in 2013. The 2012 symposium is for EUDL coordinators and invited guests only but, as always, the 2013 conference will be open to the public.

Preregister for Webinar: "Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) for Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs)"

There are many issues to consider when faced with the possibility of short-term or long-term school closures or disruptions in providing business and educational services. A Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) is essentially a program that ensures continued performance of essential functions across a full range of potential emergencies. COOP is not the same as an Emergency Operations Plan but rather supplements it, in the event the normal facility or human resources are not available. This Webinar will focus on COOP as it pertains to colleges, universities, and other institutions of higher education (IHEs). Participants will learn about the 10 elements of planning for continuity of operations, including determining essential functions; ensuring continuity of communications; and the importance of testing, training, and conducting exercises to ensure a broad spectrum of capabilities following an emergency.

The Webinar will discuss COOP activities as they occur within each of the four phases (prevention-mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery) of emergency management and will highlight key considerations for IHEs for planning to continue business and educational activities during a school closure.

(Lines will open 15 minutes prior to the Webinar for questions on using Webinar format. This presentation is expected to last about 1 hour, with 30 minutes following for a Question and Answer session.)
