National Survey Results on Drug Use, 1975-2010, Volumes I and II Now Available 

Volume I provides data and trends on 8th, 10th, and 12th graders, and Volume II addresses data on college students and adults aged 19-50. These monographs report long-term trends in the use of a host of licit and illicit substances from 1975 to 2010, as well as in key attitudes, beliefs, age of initiation, exposure to use, and perceived availability.

New Case Study: St. Cloud State University - Community Alliance

With the president and the mayor at the head of the Community Alliance, signifying its importance, others quickly signed on, including the city attorney, chief of police, representatives from the Downtown Council and the Hospitality Association, as well health care representatives, neighborhood residents, students, and business leaders. The primary goal of the coalition is to reduce the incidence of high-risk drinking and its related negative consequences in the St. Cloud community. High-risk drinking is defined as excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages that increases the risk of experiencing negative consequences not only for those who are drinking but also for the community.

The APHA Annual Meeting and Exposition is the oldest and largest gathering of public health professionals in the world, attracting more than 13,000 national and international physicians, administrators, nurses, educators, researchers, epidemiologists, and related health specialists. APHA's meeting program addresses current and emerging health science, policy, and practice issues in an effort to prevent disease and promote health. Early-Bird deadline is August 19th!

CollegeResponse's National Depression Screening Day® (NDSD)

NDSD raises awareness and educates students about the signs and symptoms of mood and anxiety disorders, as well as connecting at-risk students to the resources they need. The screenings - offered online or in-person at NDSD events - are anonymous and confidential. The brief screening will help students get help if needed, and referrals are tailored for the campus counseling center or health center.

Mark Your Calendar for CADCA TV's Show on Strategies to Tackle Marijuana Use

Attitudes about marijuana are changing. During the next CADCA [Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America] TV program, "The Blunt Truth: Communities Dealing with Marijuana," representatives from various states will discuss how medical marijuana laws and marijuana legalization efforts are affecting their communities, and what they're doing to tackle this issue.
