The Engaging Bystanders in Sexual Violence Prevention project, from the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, highlights resources, research, and tools that support the development of bystander intervention approaches to prevention.

Responding to a Violent or Traumatic Event
The tragic events in Arizona over the weekend, although not campus-based, may still cause substantial distress and affect the learning environment. The Higher Education Center has compiled a set of resources for Responding to a Violent or Traumatic Event that campus-based personnel may find helpful.
Save the Date! Online Training: Developing an Evaluation Plan for Campus Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse and Violence (AODV) Prevention
The Center will offer a new, self-paced online training in late February. After participation, individuals and campus teams will be able to:
- Understand the importance of evaluating AODV prevention efforts.
- Integrate evaluation into the overall program planning and implementation process.
- Develop an evaluation plan for their campus AODV prevention efforts.
- Access Higher Education Center products and services to assist in evaluating AODV prevention efforts.
Dates: February 28 - March 11, 2011

Spring and Summer Positive Community Norms Trainings The Center for Health and Safety Culture and MOST of UsŪ are offering two upcoming training opportunities. Spring 2011 Positive Community Norms Institute Dates: May 17-19, 2011 Location: Bozeman, MT This Institute provides an opportunity to learn about the Positive Community Norms Process and the theory upon which it is built, The Science of the Positive™. The program is designed for those interested in working with this process in the future. 2011 Montana Summer Institute Dates: July 12-14,2011 Pre-Institute: July 11, 2011 Location: Big Sky, MT The Summer Institute is an opportunity for both beginners and advanced practitioners to learn about the Positive Community Norms model. The pre-Institute session is recommended for individuals who are new to the field or want an overview of the theory and practice of the Positive Community Norms model. Drinking Enforcement Train SAMHSA Funding Opportunity for Campus Suicide Prevention The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is now accepting applications for 2011 Campus Suicide Prevention grants, to facilitate a comprehensive approach to preventing suicide in institutions of higher education. The program is designed to assist colleges and universities in their efforts to build a solid foundation for delivering and sustaining effective mental health and substance abuse prevention and treatment services in order to prevent suicide and to enhance services for students with mental and behavioral health problems.
