Greetings!
Fall is in the air. Can you hear the crickets' mating call? Have you noticed how furiously the squirrels are gathering nuts and seeds for the winter? Has the harvest moon greeted you at the horizon yet? If you love to gaze at the stars in the night sky, then you have no doubt noticed that they have changed positions to herald the change in seasons.
I have a particular fondness for Summer and am given to bouts of grieving as the more inclement weather and colder temperatures set in. Still there is a sense of comfort in the cycles which define life on this planet. And it highlights for me the need for each of us to develop more awareness of our connection to Earth and the other life forms which share her with us.
This weekend, a group of us will meet to explore the ways in which our diversity intersects and informs our hope for a better world for all of us. Read more about it below and come join us if you can.

Detaching with Love versus Erecting Walls
My clients often ask me to explain how to let go and detach with love. How is it different from simply walking away or erecting a wall?
For many, the concept of detaching with love sounds contradictory. After all, love usually accompanies intimacy and closeness. Whereas detachment sounds more like separation and even numbness.
Perhaps detaching as it is practiced by most, does involve a separation and numbing of emotions. But detaching with love can be an exquisite act of affection and connection. It can actually bring you closer to the ones you love. Detaching with love can be the ultimate expression of love.
Here is a great definition of detachment which I found online (the author was not provided unfortunately):
The ability to maintain an emotional bond of love, concern and caring without the negative results of rescuing, enabling, fixing or controlling. While you may experience less physical proximity to the person you are detaching from, it is not always necessary. Often, detachment is a state of mind. It is a commitment you make to yourself to shift your energy and your attitude and your intentions to that of greater love. Detaching with love becomes an exercise in asserting healthy boundaries and expressing love, in the context of those healthy boundaries, without expectations. Let your own ability and capacity for giving without expectations be your guide. You can give as much as you want as long as you KNOW that you release it to the will of the Universe and have ONLY your loved one's best interest at heart. Where we run into problems is with our expectations. We all have them no matter how altruistic and spiritually fit we imagine ourselves to be. Live within your means. If you cannot handle being so generous in the face of nothing coming back to you, then stop. This forms the container for your love. It is neither right nor wrong. It simply lets you know where you are today. I use a very successful combination of education and role playing which will increase your passion for your partner(s) and just about everything else. I just finished [reading] . . . The Christ Conspiracy: The Greatest Story Ever Sold. The author, Acharya S [D.M. Murdock], presents xristianity as a hoax without the slightest historical truth. She becomes especially eloquent on the subject of sacred prostitution. I quote from Ch. 18:
Ancient harlots often commanded high social status and were revered for their learning. As embodiments of the Queen of Heaven, in Palestine called Qadeshet, the Great Whore, the harlots were honored like queens at centers of learning in Greece and Asia Minor.
Some even became queens. The Empress Theodora, wife of Justinian, began her career as a temple harlot. St Helena, mother of Constantine, was a harlot before she became an empress/saint.
Temple prostitutes were revered as healers of the sick. Their very secretions were supposed to have medicinal virtue.
As xristianity began a frenzied elimination of its pagan rivals, they would down-tread especially hard on sex, prostitutes, and women in general. They aint over it yet.

'Regular Christian type' religion is fear based and very much about control. I actually came up with this thought recently about religion:
" Religion has often been a desperate and misguided attempt to achieve a sense of safety.......often at the expense of others."
And 'god' .. to me very clearly ........at least for ME ...the concept of god is something humans invented to explain what they could not explain .. a natural reaction ..but still........only a concept by humans.
And I think about violence in the world all the time.. and abhor that on all levels .. there needs to be an entire other paradigm working. As you say ..........there are proven solutions.
I like to say humans really know what to do ... they actually 'know' but ...they can't get there from here.
Like ending hunger in Africa ...it appears to me conventional methods have relatively little affect ... not on a society-changing level really. Short term 'patching' of the problem ... not the entire new paradigm needed.. and even the word 'paradigm' while it is the right word...falls short of expressing what is really needed.. something we can't imagine quite even, given our current perceptions and reference points.
I look for new words and more evolved concepts.. 'absurdly dysfunctional' does not begin to grasp the level of what humans do with our precious planet and with each other.
