~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am proud to have been one of the first to speak about domestic violence from the perspective of female perpetrators and male survivors.  I am only proud that I had the courage to broach this topic - I am certainly not proud of my past abusive behaviors. As many of you know, the television documentary aired just a few months ago and you can view clips here. In the last few months there have been several articles about male victims of abuse in Great Britain and Scotland. And while there are USA shelters which provide services for female perpetrators, the fact remains that we in the USA have a long way to go before male survivors are accorded the same level of care and assistance that female survivors are granted.

This month I am asking you to make a difference simply by acquainting yourself with this issue. Read the links here and honestly check in with yourself to see if you feel empathic toward these men or if some other energy comes up for you. Sometimes the first step toward making a positive difference in the world is simply cultivating an awareness of your own prejudices and assumptions (we all have them in some area of life) and opening your mind to new thought. How easy is it for you to accept that some men suffer from the same syndrome as female victims of violence?
