February Product of the Month: Basic Grey Precision File Set
Don't you love it when the manufacturers just know exactly what we Bad Girls need AND makes it pink too?? Basic Grey Precision File Set - perhaps THE BEST tool of 2007 - it's ingenious in its simplicity! We'll leave the word to Wendy who has this to say about this tool:
You know how they say the best things come in
small packages?? Well. as far as I'm concerned, this is one of them!
Someone FINALLY read my mind and THANK YOU to Basic Grey...they
delivered something that every, yes, EVERY scrapbooker shouldn't be
without! If you don't have this in your tool box girls...please don't
hesitate...you NEED this!!! Why do you need this?? Well....if you
pretty up your chipboard with patterned paper or glitter or
cardstock...whatever it is girls...do you know the feeling when you are
using a regulare file or a piece of sandpaper and DARN IT!!!!......you
just can't get in the center of the letter "R" or for that matter, in
the deep v shaped groves of the Letters "M", "N", "V", etc. I usually
sit there with my type A personality and go bonkers ,
then I used to try to shove my fingernail in there to get all the
excess paper off....or even better, I would try to use my exacto knife,
but that never really quite gave me the results I wanted...so.....do I
have this problem any longer??? NOT!!!!!
These files girls are AWESOME...and truth be told, when I saw the itty
bitty price tag on them...I said...NO WAY!!! Can it be true that I get
all these incredible files for about the same money as lunch through
the drive through?? (Probably cheaper actually)
I mean, come on, you get 6....yep SIX files in all different shapes and
sizes....you gotta love it! Four of the fies are tiny for getting into
all types of nooks and crannies and the two bigger ones are perfect for
all of your larger areas that you need to file...and ya know what I
really like about all of them????Well...shhhh....don't tell anyone, but
first of all I really like the pink handles
, but what I really like more than the fact that they are really pretty
is the fact that the pink handle is grippable, non slip rubber. It
doesn't get any better than this girls...so fret no more about filing
all of your pretties...now you are well equipped when you have the help
of these!!! And I also want to metion that with these you are not
limited to distressing or filing just chipboard....oh NO NO NO....these
will also handle the likes of plastic and metal!!!! YEP!!! Who'd a
THUNK???
OH....and one more thing I like is that Basic Grey was thoughtful
enough to know that we like a reusable package! I LOVE it...this way,
when you're done with your toys putting them away AND keeping them
together in one place is not an issue. And I also like how compact it
is too.
Make sure you get yourself one of these girls...I promise...this will be one of the most used tools in your little box! Enjoy!
Oh....and price...I almost forgot...this collection is only $7.00

Tutorial: Sewing on Layouts by Sri Sams
I love sewing on my layouts. It creates not only another dimension
to the layout but also adds an interesting element to it. When
purchasing a sewing machine, you dont have to buy the latest model with
all the whistles. Just a basic sewing machine with a few different
stitches will do. My sewing machine is a Brother brand, bought from
Walmart.
Before you start sewing on your layout, check the tension of your
thread. If it's too tight, it can cause tearing on the paper. Too
loose, and you'll have loose stitches. Get a piece of paper and do a
trial run and adjust the tension accordingly. The tension is dependant
on the thread you use, the paper and of course, the model of your
sewing machine. Once that is set, you are ready to sew.
Here's a layout I created incorporating sewing.
On my layout, I'm sewing a circle around my photos. Before sewing
the stitches, I drew a circle lightly with a pencil so that I can
direct my stitches better. Now, I'm ready to sew. The first round, I sewed along the line that I had drawn, to cover
the pencil markings. Then, I sewed 5 more times around, making patterns
as I go along. Do not sew over a glue dot as your needle can get stuck.
It can even get stuck with some glue tape, so be careful when you sew
over an adhesive. I usually do not sew over any kind of adhesives
because of this.
Add a few more embellishments, and Voila! The layout is done! |
