STOP PRESS - NEW! Trek to the Hidden Himalaya of Burma
|
| |
Join our unique NEW trek to the remote Phonyin Razi in November 2012
In Burma's remote northern territory, close to both China and India, a group of snow-capped peaks marks the eastern end of the great Himalayan chain. Almost no outsiders have visited these mysterious mountains which rise close to 6000 metres. So, we are very excited to have been able to set up this exciting new exploratory trek that will take us through the villages of colourful tribal people and then on forest trails to the stunning viewpoint peak of Phonyin Razi (4282m). Including a demanding 10-day trek, a wealth of new experiences and time for sightseeing in Mandalaya and Yangon, this is a unique opportunity to take part in a KE reconnaissance expedition in an intriguing part of the world. >> View Hidden Himalaya of Burma Trek >> View Burma holidays

Meet the Leaders
|
Tala, Raslan and Yousef from Jordan
Your KE leader has a key part to play in the running of your holiday. Most of them have worked for KE for many years and each of them is able to pass on an invaluable understanding of the areas in which they work, from a local's perspective. In the first of what we intend to become a regular feature of our monthly enews, we are taking the opportunity here to introduce you to 3 leaders from Jordan who invariably get great feedback from KE groups. Click the 'Read more' link below, to find out who is into Chris de Burgh and who rates Lance Armstrong as the person they most admire in the world... >> Read More >> View all Jordan Holidays

Bhutan biking holiday under the GPS microscope
We have started to record our trekking and biking holidays using Garmin GPS technology and have just added the first example to our website of how this amazing information can be used. The GPS devices that we use provide a daily track, with each point on the track accurate to within 5 metres - giving us an incredibly detailed record of the route. Any keen cyclist hoping to tackle Bhutan's Thunder Dragon Ride can now get a much better impression of exactly what is involved by clicking on the links to each daily track, saved on our Garmin Connect site. Check out the distance of each day's ride, together with the elevation profile, the gradient of the ascents (as a percentage) and much more. You can even export the track to view it in astounding detail on Google Earth. >> View Bhutan Ride >> View Bhutan Ride in Garmin Connect

Juniper Trust Update
|
Ron Kenyon in Kathmandu
This spring, Juniper Trust secretary, Ron Kenyon, travelled to Nepal with KE on a Mera Peak expedition. Whilst in Kathmandu, he paid a visit to Chobar School for Orphaned Children, which has been an ongoing project for many years. This year, with the help of Jersey College, the Trust has raised £3000 to fund the rebuilding of a supporting wall (washed away during monsoon rains) and to provide a new kitchen and sleeping accommodation for the 15 children at the school. The Trust is working to raise £4500 to support the school for the coming year.
