Greetings!
This is a great time of the year to start over
again. I heard someone say "I don't believe in New Year's Resolutions". You could sure
tell it. Nothing in their mundane and mediocre life had changed in
years.
January is to the year what Genesis is to the Bible - a place
of beginning, and, for most of us, "a place of beginning over."
It's great to know we serve a God who allows multiple second
chances. If we are to begin again, why not follow our Father's example of
beginning in Genesis Chapter One? There are many more, but here are three things
you can do to get kick started:
1. Be creative
"And God created . . . " (Gen 1:1) The fastest way to get over your past is to
create a new future. If you've been trying to change something in your life and
things aren't improving - change your method. None of us deserve to be the
poster child for repetitive stupidity, so be creative. Try a new approach. Say
the word "adventure" very slowly, and let it instruct you -add some
venture!
2. Declare your intentions
"And God said . . . " (Gen 1:3) Call it confession, prayer, accountability or
whatever. In order for anything new, fresh and worthwhile to happen in your life
you must declare it. It's just the way we are wired - in the image of our Father.
". . . calls things that are not as though they were". (Rom.
4:17)
3. Put things in order for the
future
"And God divided the light from the darkness" (Gen 1:4) Notice God
doesn't just create it and walk away. He made the division to bring about
seasons. More times than not, creation without order only brings chaos.
Prioritize your life for the next level.
At the end of every season, we should be able to look back
and
say with our Father,
"It was very good". Let this be your season!
