 Greetings ,

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow...

As the words of one of my favorite songs performed by Frank Sinatra during this time of year reflect, "Let it Snow!"

Frank Sinatra Let it snow
Frank Sinatra Let it snow

This is the time of year when it does in deed snow. We all need to be sure that our vehicles are ready for the snow and ice that visit the Pacific Northwest this time of year. Check your cars radiator for fluid levels and top it off if needed. Make sure your windshield fluid reservoir is filled to the brim with fresh window washer fluid. Place your window scraper and deicer in a handy spot so you can find them after a long day at the office or out shopping for those last minute Christmas gifts. Take the time to learn how to put your snow chains or cables on your car before the snow hits the ground; this is much easier to do in nicer weather than on the side of a snowy slick road with your hands becoming numb from the cold.

As 2011 rushes towards the New Year, don't forget to schedule those depositions and other critical appointments before the year ends to ensure that you have coverage and think about options in case icy, snowy road conditions make it impossible for people to arrive at deposition sites.

Flygare & Associates has a wonderful vendor we use for converting those frantic emergency situations into very pleasant telephone conference calls. Be sure to ask us how you can take advantage of that service. It's far better to be sitting at your cozy desk at home or at the office with a hot mug of chocolate or a steaming latte than fighting terrible road conditions and perhaps getting into one of those fender benders we all see during the winter months.

All of us at Flygare & Associates would like to take this moment to say thank you to all of our wonderful clients and wish you all the best for the coming New Year!!

Best wishes,

The Video Vault

Happy Holidays

VV2

When we left off last month we were discussing types of uses and ease of use of the video camera for today's consumer.

This time of the year the video camera is used for many different reasons including, but not limited to home videos, sporting events, and family get-togethers during the holiday season. Camcorders are also used to video record weddings, birthdays, graduation ceremonies, children growing up, and other personal events.

In today's world many people use the video camera to get a political message out to the public. For example political protestors have used video documentation of unjust or inappropriate actions to carry their message to the media. Video speaks louder than words.

The classroom is another example of video use in today's world. Students use video cameras to make short movies and personal documentation. Elementary school children all the way to college professors are using the technology and can share those experiences like never before.

A slide show of your vacation or a letter telling your family how you're doing is no comparison to viewing the live replay of your vacation on video or sharing a video message with your family back home.

Wrapping up, we have learned that the video camera has come a long way and we are only scratching the surface of how you will be using the video camera in the future.

I hope you have enjoyed reading The Video Vault and if you have any questions or wish to discuss any of the legal services we offer at Flygare & Associates, professional court reporters, legal videographers and court certified transcriptionists, always feel free to give us a call or send us an email.

Happy holidays and see you all next year.

Recipe of the Month

Eggnog Kringla

Kringla

1 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. nutmeg

3/4 cup butter

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 egg

4 cups flour

1 cup eggnog

In large bowl stir together dry ingredients, set aside.

In large bowl beat butter for 30 seconds or until soft. Add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Add flour mixture and eggnog alternately, beating until mixed.

Working with half the dough at a time, roll round tablespoonfuls of dough into pencil-like strips about 8" long and ½" thick.

On ungreased cookie sheet loop 1 end of the strip over the other end to form an oval with 2 ends overlapping.

Bake at 350 degrees for 6 - 8 minutes, or until edges turn light brown.

NOTE: The traditional shape is a pretzel, you need to roll dough 10" long for this.

NOTE: These cookies tend to spread out while baking so if you do either of the shapes described you can only do a few per sheet.

NOTE: Instead of doing the traditional pretzel shape, what I did was I rolled the dough into short ropes and bent them into a crescent shape. They did not spread as much as the pretzel shaped ones do.
