Transcription Corner

Thinking Outside The Courtroom!
Many people have asked us in the past if Flygare & Associates will transcribe things other than courtroom hearings. The answer to that question is YES!!
Flygare and Associates In-House transcription department transcribes a variety of matters not just court hearings. We have done numerous appeals hearings for several local school districts when students have been emergency expelled for whatever reason.
We have transcribed multiple city counsel meetings or other city hearings throughout the Northwest area.
We have transcribed interviews for possible employee misconduct and for witnesses of a crime in preparation for court trials.
And as always we have transcribed a variety of text messages off cell phones, voice messages off answering machines, emails, videos, whatever needs to be transcribed.
If you have a hearing or interview you would like transcribed but you do not have a recording device, our in-house videographer will come and record your hearing and we will transcribe off of the video. We are always willing to work with you to make sure you get what you want when you want it.

Product liability has always been an important hot topic but right now things are heating up in the legal community as well it should be with all the recalls and imported and/or discount product manufacturers that exist in the marketplace.
Consumers can order products from reputable companies and increasingly you can order products online and more often than not you will not know where products may originate. I am sure that many of you know the old legalism "caveat emptor," well, it still applies today and maybe even more importantly. The buyer must be more than ever aware today.
In a recent legal case, Flygare & Associates was hired to video a product liability case regarding a sprinkler head product from a huge supplier that failed in its functionality and caused over $100,000 damage to products in a warehouse. As part of their litigation strategy, the company did a re-enactment with multiple types and qualities of sprinkler heads. A multitude of scenarios were set up and we videoed all kinds of stress tests, actually dissembling sprinklers to see how the component parts worked together, along with fail safe tests for the various products.
As the often used football axiom goes "The eye in the sky doesn't lie," it was true in this case as well. As the company's purchase invoices showed that they had ordered one brand and quality of sprinkler head and that they actually received a lesser quality "replica" of the same sprinkler head.
As the testing continued the next day, it was becoming quite obvious that there was a major difference between the various sprinklers and their ability to handle heat and other test factors.
Our video helped to show quite dramatically that there was a difference in the products they thought they had purchased and what they had actually received and installed which, in the end, ended up causing a catastrophe in a warehouse.

Reader X: Why Jona, what does technology have to do with court reporting or litigation support and how can Flygare & Associates make technology work better for me?
 Jona: I'm so glad you asked that, Reader X ... (okay, so it's a cheesy Speed Racer reference... but yes, I am that old and yes, I am that geeky). In this day and age, whether we like it or not, technology is involved in every aspect of our businesses. One of the many things we do here at Flygare & Associates is work hard every day to stay up to date with not only office applications software for our office but also industry specific software and all the rules and regulations involved in the litigation support industry to make sure that we are using the best, most appropriate medium for whatever your litigation support needs.
We also make sure that all of our court reporters, transcriptionists and videographers have access to the latest tools and are totally up to date with current rules and regulations to insure that the end product that you receive from Flygare & Associates will be the best solution for whatever the situation. If you ever have any special formatting needs or need your transcript created in some special program let us know.
