Greetings ,
Decisions, decisions, decisions!!
Today, as we collectively sit at our desks, we make decisions on virtually everything that we do or interact with in some way.
Making a decision on court reporting services is one of the most important decisions that a legal secretary or paralegal can make for their law firm, their lawyer, and/or their clients.
It may seem easy to make a choice between a company that is offering legal secretaries an I-pod or cash-type incentives for stores like Nordstrom's or Macy's if they schedule a certain number of transcribed depositions compared to one that isn't, however, it is highly likely that an ethics based consideration wasn't part of that decision making process.
Roger G. Flygare & Associates doesn't offer incentives to receive your important litigation work but rather relies on providing consistently great service. RGFI doesn't violate ethical standards as promulgated by the National Court Reporters Association and the Washington Court Reporters Association. We proudly display our NCRA Ethics logo on our products and transcripts.
It is our strong advocacy for this practice which we believe is an important asset to our clients and it is a hallmark of our court reporting partners across the country and actually around the world. We provide our clients what is expected at a compensation rate that is fair and unbiased in its delivery.
Call us for our competitive rates and secure one of the leading reporting agencies in the Pacific Northwest for your next litigation.
Best wishes to you all,

Roger G. Flygare Washington CCR No. 2248 President & CEO Roger G. Flygare & Associates, Inc. |

Transcription Corner
By Anna Hirsch Senior Transcriptionist
To file or not to file?
One of the questions that we are asked a lot by those who hire us for their transcript work is: Do you (Flygare & Associates) file the transcript or do we?
The answer is simple. We will do whatever you want. If you want us to file a transcript for you, we will gladly do so. If you wish to file the transcript yourself, we will send you the original transcript with a disc included containing the transcription job so that you can file it yourself. It is your choice.
For transcripts that need to be filed with the court of appeals, what we have been told is that we are to file those transcripts with the court of record where the trial was held. And then the transcript will be forwarded to the court of appeals from there.
Flygare & Associates In-House Transcription Department transcribes a variety of hearings, meetings, videos, text messages, voice messages, emails, etc. We are here for all your transcription needs.

By Chris Lewis, FLVS
Legal Video Specialist

In today's legal environment people choose to videotape many different things for many different reasons. Anything from video recording a deposition, property damage verification to a video Will and Testament, along with so much more!
Let's start with a video Will and Testament. This is a very personal and momentous keepsake, something that you will have for the rest of time.
There is no limit to what you can have recorded and then we will make you a "Memory DVD" that will be just the way you remember it.
If you would prefer to record a written personal statement or even a few personal moments, you get to choose the memory that is kept.
Please call or send an e-mail to RGflygare@flygare.com if you would like more information on this or any of our previous stories from the video vault. All calls and e-mails are considered private and highly confidential.

Tech Talk By Jona ChristoeMarketing and Technology
The latest buzz around the virtual water cooler is social media security.
Blogs, facebook accounts, twitter accounts, online email accounts, and other sites are hacked or hijacked everyday. These accounts can be used to mine for your personal information or be used to impersonate you and get to the people in your friend or contact lists.
Nothing can guarantee that your account will be safe but there are a few simple steps you can take to protect yourself from most internet scoundrels.
- Do not use your pet's name as your password! This goes for your kid's names, bosses name, your first car or the high school you attended.
- Don't make the answer to your security question too easy.
- Include both letters and numbers in your password but not your street and house number (see #1).
- Make your password at least 8 characters unless the site sets a smaller limit.
- Don't use the same password for everything.
- Don't keep your password log or a list of accounts and passwords on your computer.
- Companies will not email you asking for your login and password information!
If your account does get hacked or hijacked you may not be able to log into it yourself, so it's handy to have a backup of your contact list so that you can email your friends and let them know.
Have a great May and I'll talk to you again in June.
Jona
