Greetings ,

I would just like to take a moment to thank all of you who have allowed us to come into your office and provide lunch for you and your staff.

The comments we have received have all been positive and in many respects unique.  Although, it has not been unusual to hear, "So you're not here to market us but just to share lunch with us?!"

The fact is that is exactly what having our office-sponsored lunch is all about.  It's just a chance to get to know those people we talk with on the phone so often and I can tell you that from our side of things it's really nice to be able to put a face with the voice.

If you would like us to schedule a luncheon with you, please send an email to Jona@flygare.com, let us know if there are any special considerations such as vegan or vegetarian menus needed and the like and we will bring the soup and sandwiches or whatever the lunch turns out to be that day.

It's fun and friendly.  Sort of like a Fun Friday event.  You can use it for a morale booster if you like for your staff.  You can also ask us questions and we will more than happy to answer the ones that we can.  For example, at one office luncheon, we were asked if we've provided video services for Independent Medical Exams and the quick answer was yes.  We covered all the aspects of what is involved in providing that service.

So send us an email or call us a (800) 574-0414 or fax us at (253) 661-0392 and schedule A FREE LUNCH ON US!!  Join our email list by subscribing at our web site, www.flygare.com and stay current with what's happening at Flygare & Associates.

Best wishes to you all in 2010,

Have you ever noticed while reviewing a transcript that periodically the word "phonetic" appears and you know that was not said in the hearing?  Where does that word come from?

While transcribing hearings or court cases when a person's name is stated and we do not have a listing of the proper spelling we spell it the best way we can and put the word "phonetic" behind it.  Is it Mr. Smith, Mr. Smyth or Mr. Smythe?  Is it Karen or Karin?  Is it Lori, Lorrie or Laurie?  If we do not know the proper spelling we pick one spelling of the word, type "phonetic" right after the first spelling of the name and continue that same spelling throughout the transcript.

Having a list of names of witnesses, attorneys, judges, jurors, etcetera, will help us eliminate the use of the word "phonetic" and allow us to provide a more accurate transcript with all names spelled correctly.

Flygare & Associates In-House Transcription Department transcribes a variety of hearings, meetings, videos, text messages, voice messages, emails, etc. We are here for all your transcription needs.

BACKUP VIDEO ~ Our Safety Net

As with anything, it is always a good idea to have a backup plan. Yes, I did say "backup" and you might ask how in the heck does that apply to the legal video world?  Let me share with you our office backup protocol for your legal video orders.

Flygare & Associates' professional legal video department utilizes today's technology with its cameras, audio and monitor equipment, but even with all that we still maintain a backup VHS tape recorder.

You may ask, "What is a backup video tape?"  A backup video tape is just as the name states, a backup tape to the original recording.  We run a color video monitor with a built-in VHS recorder.  We start and stop the tape on each break so the timed recording is exactly as it is on the original.

We have been in the legal video field for over 30 years and even though we have never had an equipment failure, which would lead to the use of the backup tape.  Even with our flawless camera work, we still think it is very wise and diligent even today to use our VHS system to provide a very useable, if needed, backup tape.

So you can sleep easy that when you hire Flygare & Associates for your legal needs.  You can have peace of mind in knowing that not only do we record this on HDD/DVD, we are also running in the background a VHS backup tape.

Give us a call for an in-office visit if you would like more information or go to www.flygare.com/scheduling and schedule your next deposition legal video production.

Web apps and sites come in 3 categories in my opinion.  The first category, NOVELTIES, includes interesting things to look at, interesting things to listen to, interesting things to think about, and interesting things that seem like they would be helpful but really don't have any real world use... they are just interesting for no particular reason.  The second category, TOOLS, includes things that are actually useful and make either your personal life or your work life better and more productive.  And the third, GARBAGE, we all run into this, not interesting, not useful, just... well... garbage.

One of the definitions for tool, according to Dictionary.com is, "Anything used as a means of accomplishing a task or purpose." While we were developing our website we tried to keep this definition in mind and create a site that would be both useful and purposeful.

On our website we have several pages that I consider tools, such as our online scheduling form.  With this form you can email us directly from our website with the information for your proceeding and we will call or email you within 24 hours (or Monday if you send it on Friday) to confirm your appointment.

REMINDER - IF YOU NEED TO SCHEDULE WITHIN 24 HOURS OF YOUR PROCEEDING OR SCHEDULE FOR MONDAY ON A FRIDAY, CALL US DIRECTLY AT

1-800-574-0414

The other tool I want to talk about today is our "tools" page.  This is a place where we have links to useful information and tools on other websites. We feel these are important enough to include them so that you have easy access to them.

Please check out our scheduling tool at www.flygare.com/scheduling and our tools page at www.flygare.com/tools and let us know what you think.

Also...

If you discover a way our website could be more interesting or a better tool let me know by email and I'll send it over to our web development team to see what can be done.  Or if you know of a tool (web site or app), that you find especially useful and you would like to share, email it to me at jona@flygare.com
