| Richard Groff Elected USASA President |
Richard Groff, former USASA Region I Director, was formally elected as President of the United States Adult Soccer Association at the organization's Council Meeting on Friday, February 5. The meeting was held in conjunction with the 2010 U.S. Soccer Annual General Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Shonna Schroedl of Oregon was elected as the new National Secretary for USASA, succeeding previous officer Valerie Blanchenay. Valerie held the office for four years.
Former Region I Deputy Director Fritz Marth was elected USASA's Region I Director passing the title onto Anthony Falcone from Maryland who was voted as Region I Deputy Director. John Kahmke is the new Region I Secretary, position previously held by Matthew Krywonos.
Region II elected Bill Davey as Deputy Director and Wayne Wilson as Treasurer.
In Region III news, Rob Lavielle of Tampa was appointed Region III Director succeeding past Director Carlos Rodriguez. Mr. Lavielle is the past President of the Florida State Soccer Association. Karon Beyer of Georgia was voted Region III Secretary.
Mike Maloney was re-appointed as Region IV Deputy Director and Lori Stoneburner was chosen as the new Region IV Treasurer. Werner Fricker, Jr. and Jim Hamilton were re-assigned as Members At Large. Also as part of the USASA's AGM agenda, the new USASA Implementation Team Leaders were introduced to the membership in attendance at the Council Meeting.
These eight individuals will help shape the future of the USASA by leading eight specific teams. Each team is specific to an objective which will be executed through various plans in order to meet given deadlines. Bob Kepner (North Carolina) Overall Implementation Manager
Bob Kepner has serviced the game for over a quarter century touching every facet: coaching, officiating, organizing, and working with youth and adults. Blessed with the support of many friends and co-workers, he has served in a variety of leadership roles with the North Carolina Adult Soccer Association as a Registrar, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and President. At the national level, Mr. Kepner held positions such as member of the USASA Appeals Committee and Rules Committee. For several years, he served for the US Soccer Appeals Committee, the US Soccer Summit Planning Group, and as Chairman of the US Soccer Credentials Committee. At the youth level, Bob worked with the US Youth Soccer Association for 4 years as Chairman of the Risk Management Committee that shaped the US Youth Soccer Risk Management Program. He also served as the North Carolina Youth Soccer President for 14 years. Bob feels that he could bring a useful set of skills to the task of helping USASA to move forward in fulfilling its new vision and mission and in achieving its strategic objectives. | 2010 USASA Hall of Fame Nomination Process Now Open! |
The Hall of Fame Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2010 class induction. This is your chance to recognize that individual you believe has dedicated time, effort and energy to adult soccer.
We invite you to apply today by filling out the nomination form here.
Please return form by April 15, 2010 to USASA National Office at 9152 Kent Avenue, Suite C-50, Lawrence, Indiana, 46216. A photograph of the potential inductee must accompany the nomination form as well. Remember, you must include a photo. A picture is worth a 1,000 words!
If you would rather nominate the candidate of your choice by email, you can do that! Please complete the Hall of Fame nomination form electronically and email it along with a photograph to halloffame@usasa.com.
To be considered for induction into the USASA Hall of Fame, candidates shall be nominated as either administrators, coaches, players, or referees, and shall meet the criteria specified for that category.
Individuals meeting the qualifications under two or more categories may be nominated for consideration under a single category, using primary/secondary categories, or specifying multiple categories.
