2009 USASA Regional Championships To Start Soon!

USASA Regional Cups are all set to kick off the 2009 season! While some regions are still at the state qualifying level, others are more than ready to hold their Regional Cup Championships.

The USASA National Cups will be held at the Seminole County Sports Training Center in Sanford, Fla., on July 24-26, 2009.

Marypat Bell Retires From USASA Executive Committee

Marypat BellThis past March Marypat Bell announced her decision to retire as Deputy Director for Region 3. The statement became official at the USASA Annual Council Meeting while at the U.S. Soccer's AGM. The New Region 3 Deputy Director is Darius Ejlali of North Carolina.

Marypat has been involved in soccer for over 30 years.  Although never a player she has been a youth coach and an administrator at all levels.  Like many others, she became involved as her 4 children began playing soccer.

We did a Q+A with Marypat to get the scoop on her experience with USASA.

How many years were you member of the USASA Executive Committee?

U.S. Soccer Announces 2009 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Format

A total of 40 teams, including 24 professional and 16 amateur clubs, will compete in the 2009 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup when it kicks off in June for the 96th consecutive year.

Qualifying for the first round of the tournament is slated to be completed by May 25, with the pairings announced shortly thereafter. Read More.
 
Recharge Sponsors Team of the Year Award
 
The Recharge Team of the Year Award rewards teams for their outstanding service off the field through volunteer work, service projects, fundraisers and for promoting the game of soccer throughout their community. 
 
USASA's national office is now accepting nominations for the Team of the Year program which runs from August 1 - July 31 (November 1 - July 31 for the first year).  A monthly winner will be selected from all nominations and the monthly winners will then compete with one another for the annual award.  Monthly and annual winners will also be featured on USASA, Major League Soccer and Women's Professional Soccer's web sites. For application form and details, Read More.
 
2009 WPS Season Underway
