Greetings! 
I am often asked where I came up with the name Poverello Coffee. In Italian, Poverello, means "little poor man." It is the affectionate name Italians have for St. Francis of Assisi. He is a universally admired figure, known for his humility, simplicity, concern for the less fortunate and the environment. So in looking for a name, I knew I wanted one which represented these ideals.
For me Poverello Coffee meets this goal. Poverello represents the ideals I want my company to exhibit to our employees, our community, and our friends. I refer to our customers as friends, because I believe when someone chooses to buy our coffee it is the beginning of a relationship; a relationship that goes beyond the exchange of money for a product.
Our name, combined with out tagline "A Good Cup"TM is the true vision of Poverello Coffee. Not only do we provide a high quality, gourmet coffee; when used as a fundraising product our great tasting coffee provides much needed funding to a variety of churches, schools, and non-profit organizations, Our community benefits in knowing that Poverello Coffee is a socially conscious company in its support of local non-profits. Our friends benefit in knowing that we standby our product and work hard to provide the freshest and best tasting coffee available.
So when people ask me about the origins of our name, I pour them a cup of our coffee and say - "Sit back and let me tell you about Poverello Coffee "A Good Cup"TM.
