Greetings!

Peace-By-Peace has a lot of exciting things coming up in the very near future.  To help in manifesting  these new and exciting ventures, I am proud to introduce the other "piece" of "peace" - Jim Royce.  Some of you have already "met" Jim when calling us, have corresponded via e-mail or if you're from the Colorado area, have personally met him.  Jim is helping with some new and exciting projects, which we will soon be introducing.  In the interim, Jim wanted to share the following article with you.  I hope you enjoy the article as much as I did, as it is an entirely different perspective of Reiki - the observer's point of view.

Wild Reiki

During this holiday season I wish to share with you a gift that I have recently received.  I know.  It sounds quite strange to share a gift that I received.  Please let me explain.  Every so often you experience something that just seems to make sense of it all.  Something that can't be explained, yet explains itself.  I recently experienced one of these moments, and I wish to now share it with all of you.

I spent an incredible autumn weekend in the Rocky Mountain ski town of Breckenridge, Colorado.  I suggested the get away weekend when Caly brought up the idea of recharging her batteries, and needing a company brainstorming weekend.  What ended up coming out of the weekend was everything that was expected, yet at the same time, so much more.  A crisp chill filled the thin mountain air.  The leaves painted in gold and reds popped as if they had been pulled from an artist's canvas.  The majesty of the Rocky Mountains surrounding me with every turn I made, inescapable.  But then again why would anyone wish to escape their vast brilliance.  I packed a camera which was very useful in helping to preserve the physical memories of such an incredible time of year.  But my camera was little aid in preserving the most incredible of sights.

Saturday evening upon returning from a long day of walking and sightseeing in this quaint tiny ski village, I was treated to a most amazing experience.  After a short nap, I knocked on Caly's door to suggest that we go watch the sun set behind these grand mountains.  Upon leaving the hotel, it was evident that the mountains had already swallowed up all the remaining sun.  We had missed our chance at the sunset.  I looked across the highway, grabbed Caly by the hand, and said "Come on.  Come with me.  There is something that is calling me over there."  She reluctantly agreed, as we had to cross a US Highway without the aid of a traffic light or crosswalk.  I would not recommend this at any point, let alone in winter with a snow covered road, but only being the first week of October lent itself to protect us on our journey.

I thought I was being drawn to a structure that was reminiscent of an ice arena.  Having played hockey for several years I felt as though this would be a great opportunity to walk Caly down one of my paths.  Take a chance to introduce her to one of my passions.  Little did I realize what waited for me on the other side, beckoning me, was not an ice rink at all, but another trip on Caly's path.  A very deep, meaningful trip it would indeed turn out to be. Upon reaching the other side of the road, the first sight we came upon was a small pond fed from a gentle mountain stream that traversed the landscape.  Upon closer inspection of this pond, its rippling water revealed a lone beaver swimming.  I had seen the handiwork of these small creatures, but had never before seen one in the wild, and neither had Caly.  The first words that sprang from her mouth were "Ooooh, I have never shared Reiki with a beaver before.  I have to share Reiki with it."  I am sure my eyes naturally rolled in my head.  They have a tendency to do that.  Caly raced toward a small piece of land that led down into the pond as if it were a mini boat ramp, where she sat cross-legged, and began to focus and open a space for this unknown wild animal, as only Caly can.

I had started around the other side of the pond to capture images of this mysterious little critter on my cell phone, as I had left the camera back in my room.  As I made my way around the small water hole I looked up to see this new mother beaver swimming directly towards Caly.  I watched in amazement as this very unsure animal soaked up the love that Caly had offered up to her, without condition or consequence.  I sat back and just took it in, just as this small docile animal did, continuing to swim the same pattern through the water.  Around and around she would go basking in the space of love and security that Caly had opened up for her. Her swimming pattern was so regimented that at the same moment in each lap it looked as if she was contemplating exiting the water to curl up in the lap of the amazing woman sitting there in conversation with her.  I only took a couple of pictures before I found myself also entranced with what was taking place directly in front of me.  These laps continued for twenty minutes or so, as the beaver would soak up the healing energy of Caly's gift, and with each lap the beaver would share with Caly a little more about herself.

I watched as Caly said goodbye to her new found friend who said she would be around tomorrow if we chose to return for another visit.  We, of course, did stop by the next day as well.  There are certain invitations you just can't say no to.  But when Caly turned to face me I believe it was she that was the most shocked by what had just taken place.  She may have never shared Reiki with a wild animal in such a manner as that, but I had never been witness to the power possessed by such an incredible woman as Caly Lehrer.  It was quite incredible to watch it all unfold: from Caly asking if she may share Reiki with her, to watching the reaction of a creature in its own environment.  Initially beginning as an unsure participant, the beaver then began to trust and grow in the warmth, as she took in all the love, and even offering to share of herself with Caly.  It brought a wave of emotion over me.  It is moments like that when you say "OMG.  I get it now."  It gave me what I call "a V8" moment.  A "duh" moment.  It was one of those instances where the light bulb not only flickers, but stays on.  I understand now why you do what you do.  I know why you love the animals the way you do.  That is the true gift.  That is what she shares.  That is what makes Caly who she is.  If you don't know Caly, get to know her.  If you are contemplating a Reiki session with Caly, but may be just the least bit skeptical or unsure, get it.  The space of love that can be shared can be awe inspiring.  Even for a man who was unsure of the healing ability and space reserved for creatures of all breeds and sizes, this was truly an unforgettable moment.  And not only will I never forget it, I will carry it with me so I may share it with all of you for the rest of my life.

A HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR from all of us at Peace-By-Peace.
