ncaa basketball

Every companies success is to a large degree based on the hard work of their staff executing the vision of top level executives. While most companies still have freezes on raises and bonuses many are looking for unique ways to reward their dedicated staffs.  Some companies such as Rock Financial and Brogan & Partners have been known to surprise staff with Kid Rock concerts and secret trips. However, many companies don't have the budget to do such large scale events but there are plenty of cost effective ways to tell your staff thank you. Check out some creative ways below that won't break the bank!

Play Ball!

Treat your employees to a night out at the COPA as they watch Brandon Inge and the rest of the Detroit Tigers with new group packages that can meet your every need.  Ticket packages start at just $7 per person for group rates. A Night at the Museum

If you've got a more creative group then perhaps a private tour of the Detroit Historical Museum and dinner at the popular Good Girls Go to Paris Crepes would be the perfect way to say thank you. Open Wednesday -Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. the DHM offers private tours for groups of 15 or more which lasts 90 minutes. You can find out more about the tours and DHM by visiting www.detroithistorical.org. GGTPC has become a midtown institution in just over a year. WA3 Launches Woodward WAVE

ncaa basketballEarlier this month the Woodward Avenue Action Association unveiled its much anticipated Woodward Avenue Virtual Experience (WAVE).  The WAVE will allow developers, business owners and more to gather information on vacant properties, incentives and more when it comes developing and purchasing property along Woodward.  For tourists and shoppers it will provide information on all of the WA3 members, special events and attractions while giving them a unique view of these sites. "The WAVE will help smooth the road to business and economic development along the Woodward corridor with the one of a kind system to find tax credits and other incentives across the region" said Program Manager, Nicole Klepadlo.

The web-based economic development tool was created with funds from 2009 Governor's Centers for Regional Excellence award.  The program created with input from the 11 Woodward communities, the WA3 worked with Sterling Heights based, LunaTech Designs to design the WAVE based on Google Earth platform.  To get started on discovering Woodward in a whole new way please visit

GM-UAW Gives WA3 $10k for Tribute

ncaa basketballAt the Woodward Avenue Action Association annual meeting and awards, United Auto Workers - General Motors announced a $10,000 gift to the Woodward Avenue Action Association (WA3) towards the installation of the Pontiac Woodward 'Tribute'.  United Auto Workers (UAW) Vice-President, Cal Rapson's made the surprise announcement during his acceptance speech for "Transportation Leader of the Year" award on April 22.

The Woodward Pontiac Tribute will cost $150,000. It is funded in part by the Federal Highway Administration National Scenic Byway funds, Oakland County, Genisys Credit Union. The interpretive signage project will break ground this summer.  This will be the second Tribute along Woodward, the first installed in 2008 in Ferndale along Woodward Avenue, one of only 37 "All-American Roads" in the country.  Another Tribute is in development in the City of Detroit.

'We are excited that as General Motors emergences from bankruptcy and the United Auto Workers are getting back to work across the country they have chosen to assist in helping us tell their unique and one of a kind story in the city of Pontiac," said WA3 Executive Director, Heather Carmona.

The Tribute project when completed will consist of 25 interpretive signs that describe each community's contribution to Woodward's rich history and act as an identifying landmark tying all 11 communities together. The Pontiac Tribute will tell the important story of transportation and its impact on the largest urban center in Oakland County. It is expected the Tribute will be completed mid summer, with a ground breaking June 9th and official unveiling Wednesday, August 18.
