With last month's emphasis on body fat and clarifying the importance of losing it, I thought that natural follow up would be to focus partly on the ways on how body fat could be successfully reduced and managed.

Our early to middle years establish a pattern and baseline for the health we will have once we are in our 50s, 60s and through to our 80s. So, can you picture yourself staying energetic and active past 80 years of age, enjoying a fast set of tennis or 18 holes of golf? Will your most regular trip out be to the doctor's surgery or the leisure centre?

The fact is, the human body doesn't get sick for any other reason than "We are what we think, eat, drink and breathe!" and managing our weight and making sure we zero-in on our body's specific needs is a sure way of achieving long term health.

It is a fact that after the age of 25 we put on average 1 lbs of body fat per year. Our body is less forgiving after that age and many find their waistlines "suddenly" spreading by the time they are 35, although they might have not changed anything drastic to their diet.

Some decide to take matters in their own hands and start, so called, a DIY Diet, which is probably the most popular diet today.
