What a fantastic event Tuesday night! Our second annual Norman B. Leventhal awards ceremony was a huge success. We were so honored to host the U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, as well Mayor Menino and his wife, Angela. Both the Secretary and Mayor Menino delivered stirring remarks. I for one came away inspired by Secretary LaHood's call to put policy about politics, and it was refreshing to see a speaker use the Big Dig as an applause line instead of a punchline.
I want to recognize this year's honorees Jane Garvey, Amos Hostetter and the Boston Red Sox, for their outstanding accomplishments in transportation, the environment and land development. I also want to thank all of you who were able to join us, and especially those of you who sponsored the event.
By now, perhaps you've seen the pictures from the event posted on Boston.com. Well, we've posted photos of our own, along with video of the speeches and award presentations. I encourage you to check them out, especially if you were unable to be there.
I have been involved with ABC since the beginning, and it's been my great honor to serve as chair of the organization for the past two years. Last night's event was a testament to how far we have come as a group. We could not have done it without all of your support and spirit. Thank you.
Sincerely,
