Repeats Calls for "Serious Conversation" on Transportation Finance
Thank you to all of you who were able to join us for our board meeting yesterday morning. We had a strong turnout to hear Lt. Gov. Murray address the group. Special thanks to chairman Larry DiCara and his team at Nixon Peabody for hosting the meeting.
Lt. Gov. Murray reiterated the administration's call for a "serious conversation" about transportation finance. He also talked about the important investments we have already made: $965 million spent on transportation infrastructure last year alone, supporting 30,000 construction jobs. According to Murray, that investment in infrastructure is one reason Massachusetts has weathered the recession better than the rest of the nation.
The Lt. Governor also highlighted the challenges on the federal level, where Congress is considering cutting transportation funding by a third or more.
We at ABC look forward to working with our elected officials to develop a comprehensive, sustainable and equitable finance solution to support our transportation network and foster economic growth.
