The Age of the Electronic Record

In the age of the electronic record, does your organisation have a holistic view of electronic document & records management or as its more commonly referred to - e-records?  Has your organisation considered the impact of issues such as electronic discovery (e-discovery) on your business activities and resourcing?

In a recent edition of The Information Management Journal (Nov/Dec 2007) an article entitled "CIOs need holistic view of e-records" discusses the sense of urgency required by organisations (both public and private) to "ensure the proper management [of] information assets and the technological infrastructure for locating and retrieving information".

As e-records are being stored in many locations, not just in records management systems, the article also discusses the need to ensure all information is preserved appropriately, particularly information which has the potential to be discoverable.

Australian Courts are currently moving toward submission of e-records in their "native format" (ie the original format in which they were produced) rather than being converted to a printed format.   A holistic approach to information management, will not only lessen the impact of potential e-discovery, but enable your organisation to effectively manage time and resources in retrieval of information.

Records Solutions has expertise in providing a holistic approach to all information management needs, which will ensure all records, regardless of where they are stored, are preserved and can easily be retrieved not only in times of e-discovery, but also for everyday operational business needs thus ensuring the effective use of time and other resources.

Should your organisation require assistance in the development of a holistic approach to the management of information or a review of current practices to ensure they remain effective, please do not hesitate to contact Records Solutions on (03) 9747 3077, for an obligation free consultation with one of our industry experts, or visit our website at www.rs.net.au.
