The monies donated will help us continue to provide services to our neighbors in need living in the areas of Centreville, Chantilly, Fair Oaks, Clifton and Fairfax Station.
At WFCM, we strive to prevent and end hunger and homelessness in Fairfax County...please help us!
Last year, Fairfax County reported that there were literally 1,544 homeless people. WFCM served them...and 85% of our clients who are at or below poverty level. The WFCM Client Services Program is inclusive of but not limited to budgeting assistance, emergency food and clothing provisions, and furniture assistance. In FY 2011, WFCM provided 418 unique families with financial assistance (i.e., rent, utilities, car repair, prescriptions, gas cards, medical and dental assistance, grocery gift cards). 604 families received a clothing voucher for the Mercy Closet up to six times per year. 37 families received furniture. The WFCM Food Pantry provides donated and USDA surplus food to those in need. In FY 2011, the food pantry had 3,789 food appointments--a 2.8% increase over the previous year. We provided 741 unique households, including 1,236 adults and 1,037 children, a total of 31,493 bags of groceries in FY 2011.
The WFCM Thrift Store is a treasure trove of new and gently-used clothing, furniture, household items and more! The monies earned here are put back into serving our clients' needs, as well as help cover WFCM's rent and utilities.
