New Grant Provides for Intense Mentorship Program
We are excited to announce a new funding gift that will allow WFCM counselors to work on a deeper mentoring level with clients. Freddie Mac Foundation has awarded us $50,000 to use for Pathways to Success, an intense year-long program working with 10 low-income households with children. Beginning July 1st, selected families will sign a contract agreeing to commit to Financial Peace University budget classes, twice monthly counseling and other steps to make wise choices and learn self sufficiency. During the year commitment, WFCM will provide mentoring, pantry food, housing and utilities assistance, job improvement advice and other support services or referrals. Rejoice with us about this opportunity to build long-term relationships that will affect the lives of people wanting to avoid homelessness and attain new life skills.

WFCM Client Stories
Roger and Margarita were referred for rent by the county. They have a newborn baby. He is working full time and she has lost her job. In addition to assisting with rent, we were able to meet with the family and get them in for monthly food and clothing assistance. We are confident of their success going forward.
Therese and Jerome were awarded custody of their granddaughter. She received a call as she walked in for her food appointment that she was being hired at a job that would allow her to bring her granddaughter with her. Therese exclaimed, "This place is blessed!!"

WFCM's Annual Backpack Drive to Support Local Children
Each year WFCM collects backpacks for the 24 elementary, middle and high schools located in Clifton, Centreville, Chantilly, Fairfax Station and the 22033 area of Fairfax. These new packs are provided at no cost to those students receiving free or reduced cost lunches. School counselors have requested over 1,000 packs for the 2011-2012 school year. Middle and high school students are in need of large-size backpacks!
If you would like to help, please drop off your donation of a new, large-size backpack (NO WHEELS, PLEASE) any time this summer prior to August 12. The packs will be delivered directly to the schools later that same month.
Our Centreville address is 14631 Lee Highway #313 in Centreville, VA.
Please contact Terri Kelly with any questions!
Thanks so much for your support!
