Spring has sprung! I am reminded of the new life we have because of the resurrection of our Lord, and how grateful we are for all of the "new" things we have been blessed with at WFCM this year.
Our Centreville office is growing and has seen over 60 clients since we opened. If you didn't see the recent article in the local
Centreview (March 3 edition), please check it out online. Our Community Coordinator, Terry Kelly, is busy speaking to churches, visiting local schools and partnering with local businesses to help sustain our office and reach more clients in the local community. Please feel free to stop by and take a tour. The Centreville office's business hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00am-2:00pm.
Meanwhile, things are hopping in Chantilly, as usual! Our food pantry has about 300 appointments each month, and we are reaching out to seniors in particular to offer new foods, and suggestions for cooking nutritional meals. Our budget class, Financial Peace University, is meeting every Tuesday night nearby and is taught by one of our faithful Board members. We received over 3,200 pounds of food at the Colonnade Giant Food Store in February, thanks to the generous donations of that community. Our Thrift Store recently underwent some nice changes and it looks fresher.
There are two major fundraiser that WFCM hosts each year: the "Swing for Homelessness Prevention" Golf Tournament and the 4th Annual Fellowship Dinner. This year we invite you and your friends to come out for a day of golf on Monday, May 9. Additional details can be found both here in this eNews (green box) and on our
website. It is not too soon to mention that our 4th Annual Fellowship Dinner is on Friday, October 14...and we DO need table hosts! Being a table host is painless, we promise! You simply invite 6-8 friends to sit with you for a lovely dinner at the Fairview Marriott, hear from our clients, hear some great music and enjoy wonderful food. Though there is no cost to this event, there is an opportunity to give financially for those who choose to do so. If you can host a table...or two...this year, please contact
Annette Bosley, our Table Host Coordinator.
Additional details will be posted on our website as we near the event. Lastly, let me share with you that I watched a recent episode of "60 Minutes" which highlighted children who are homeless and hungry. As I heard children describe what hunger feels like, my eyes welled up with tears, and I was reminded of why we do what we do at WFCM, which is to provide life-essential needs to those who need our assistance. THANK YOU for partnering with us to stop hunger and homelessness in Fairfax County!
Always grateful for your support,

Melissa M. Jansen
