Director's Corner

Happy New Year from WFCM!

Though we are already mostly through January, I am reminded of all the blessings of 2010.  We at WFCM are thankful:
  • For all the churches, individuals, businesses and volunteers who contributed to our ministry--both financially and with donations of time.
  • For the Sully District Boy Scouts, who coordinated over 50,000 pounds of food for our Food Pantry.
  • For the opening of our Centreville office, so we can serve more clients!
  • For all those who attended the 3rd Annual Fellowship Dinner and our Swing for Homelessness Golf Tournament.
  • For our new staff, board members and volunteers, and those who continue to serve faithfully.

We were able to serve 810 households with food--32,000 bags--and almost 500 with rental and utility assistance.  In addition, we received over 21,000 bags of donations for our Thrift Store and provided free clothing to our clients.  Our Thrift Store underwent (and is still undergoing) construction with a new facelift for 2011.  During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, we coordinated almost 1,500 baskets of food for our community.  And lastly, 25 students graduated from our Financial Peace University program!

Homelessness is decreasing and we are doing a small part to provide life-essential needs to our clients who are working towards self-sufficiency.  As we begin 2011, please join us in fulfilling that mission.  We could not do it without supporters like you!!

With a grateful heart,

melissa

WFCM Executive Director

Praise and Thanksgiving!

  • We are so very thankful for all our volunteers, whether they have served for a day or a decade.
  • We are thankful for such a loving and hard-working staff and board of directors.
  • We are thankful for TK Mechanical and First Column Enterprises, LLC; two dedicated vendors who have gone above and beyond to keep operations running smoothly.
  • We are thankful for everyone who sponsored a family this Christmas in the Holiday Basket Program, and also for Cindy Nichols and her expert coordination!
  • We are extremely thankful for Daniel Roca Del Valle, our new Thrift Store Clerk!
  • We are thankful for the continued healing of several of our volunteers, staff and their loved ones.

Prayers

  • We pray for all staff, board and volunteers' health, families and walk with God.
  • We pray for all who are suffering physically, emotionally and/or financially.  We also pray that as the days and nights grow colder, that all have shelter, are fed and are warm.
  • We pray for the Centreville office, that it may continue to grow and meet the needs of our clients in this area.
  • We pray for more volunteers; more volunteers who are able to commit to a long-term schedule.
  • We pray for unity and wisdom amongst the board of directors and staff as we continue to grow.
