IMPORTANT Food & Clothing Drives
|

|
|
Food and Clothing
Drives must be on our calendar!
We appreciate your donations but ask that you
call first to help us prepare for your delivery and to ensure that there are
enough volunteers to manage the volume of incoming donations.
Food Drives will be
needed during the spring and summer (April - August) months. During the winter and fall, however, less is
needed.
Our Thrift Store is currently
at maximum capacity for clothing donations, however, FURNITURE donations
(anything except padding, mattresses) are desperately needed!
Please visit our
website for a current listing of donations hours.
Thank you!

Welcome to

WFCM Client Testimony
A WFCM client (name withheld), who struggles with addiction
and is homeless, recently sent this note to the staff of WFCM: "I hope this letter finds you well and that you all had a wonderful
holiday. You probably wondered what happened to that man who wanders through
there from time to time. Well, Fairfax
County graciously gave me a resolution
for my trespassing notices, and I received 120 days (in the Fairfax Adult
Detention Center).
I did go through an alcohol rehab program for 90 days, and I will continue in a
residential program once I am released. I hope you don't think less of me for
my stay in jail; things could be worse. I think of you often and thank the
staff for always being so lively and caring. I may need your help with some
clothing and temporary housing if you can and I know I will need a coat and
shoes. This reprieve from wandering around northern Virginia has given me time to think about my
future and realize my dreams and aspirations. Not having to worry about food
and where I am going to sleep has made it easier. There has to be a reason that
I've survived so many things. Well, take care and write back, and thank you for
everything." NOTE: WFCM will help advocate for this client to receive an
intake and appropriate residential treatment and counseling when he is
released.
God is truly good!

Volunteer of the Month!
Connie Hall is the WFCM Volunteer of the Month! Connie, one hard working and dedicated individual, has been a loyal WFCM Emergency Services volunteer and "volunteer recruiter" for quite some time...with her she brought her husband and two daughters. During the two-week recertification period, she managed to come to WFCM every day for a few hours each day to help (in between her own demanding work schedule!). And she and her family have also put in endless hours at the boy scout food drives.
Connie, thank you so much for all that you do!

Those in the local tri-state area experienced a wild 2-part snowstorm February 5-10. Though the snow was very beautiful, some experienced tragedy, loss and/or destruction of property...or knew of those who did. Please pray for our clients as well as those adversely affected by the historic event.
