USHLI Launches 2012 MillerCoors Scholars
Summer Internship Program
|
|
USHLI's 21st Century Leaders/MillerCoors Scholars Internship Program continues to be the driving force behind our efforts to register voters, particularly newly naturalized citizens, with 113,388 registrations since 2006. Our college interns registered 25,839 new voters during the 2010-2011 election cycle. Our 2012 summer program participants attended orientation and training sessions last week and the actual internship starts this week.

Through this paid internship program college students can earn $2,500 over a 10-week period, which they can apply toward their college expenses. The internship consists of two parts: (1) attend weekly public policy sessions with city, county, state, and federal officials; and, (2) work independently or with other groups to register voters, particularly newly naturalized citizens.
During our 2012 election cycle our MillerCoors Scholars have registered 2,542 to date. Our goal is 25,000. For more information contact Jose Torrez at (312) 427-8683 or jtorrez@ushli.org.
