Our 2012 Student Leadership Series continued on its national tour which is expected to connect with over 40,000 students in 30 states in 2012. Since our launch on February 16 in Chicago, followed by a quick series of events in Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Georgia, and Massachusetts, we have had nearly 10,000 middle and high school and college students attend our events to date. Texas can now be added to the list.
Over 850 high school students representing 23 independent school districts attended our event as well as 29 recruiters representing vocational and technical schools, community colleges, 4-year academic institutions, the military (Army, Navy, Marines, Army National Guard), major employers, and other workforce- and financial aid-related groups.
Carlos Ojeda, considered by many as the best speaker in the nation in his age category, was our featured speaker in Brownwood, TX. Andres Lara, a.k.a. The Cuban Guy, conducted three breakout sessions on leadership skills development training.
Approximately $110,000 in scholarships were awarded to 42 students representing 16 school districts.
This week the Student Leadership Series will sponsor events in Arkansas, Ohio and Michigan. And estimated 7,500 middle school, junior high, high school, and college students are expected to attend.
