AAHHE, the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education, presented an award to Dr. Juan Andrade during its national conference in Costa Mesa, CA. The award was presented in recognition of his "outstanding support of Hispanic issues in higher education." The award was presented by AAHHE President, Dr. Loui Olivas who said "In the leadership circles of youth development, Dr. Juan Andrade is well recognized by his colleagues as an exemplary leader. He serves as a role model and champion for educational transformations that positively impact students."
In accepting the award Dr. Andrade said "I am very grateful to AAHHE, your members, and your sponsors for this award. While it is my pleasure to accept this award, I must give credit where credit is due and that is to the hardworking staff at USHLI and our Board of Directors. We are all committed to promoting education reform and increasing Latino access to higher education. Latinos remain severely underrepresented in higher education among students, graduates, tenured and tenure-track faculty, staff, administrators, and members of Boards of Trustees. We work every day to address this underrepresentation through our Student Leadership Series and our Collegiate Leadership Development Program. I am very grateful to our sponsors whose generous support enables us to do this important work." |
