Student Leadership Series
Heads East to Boston and Southeast to Atlanta

After a hugely successful swing through the Western states of Utah, Nevada, and Idaho, which attracted over 5,000 students representing middle schools, junior high, and high school levels, USHLI's Student Leadership Series (SLS) now goes to Boston and Atlanta for smaller events at two universities.  Including the SLS launch event in Chicago last month, the western swing raised our number of students reached to 7,500.  The total for the five events to date will exceed 10,000 students representing all levels of schools.

USHLI Logo and HeaderUSHLI President Dr. Juan Andrade will be the featured speaker at the 5th Annual  Harvard College LEAD Conference for Latina students being held Saturday, March 24. The conference for Latina leaders is hosted annually by Harvard University and 200 students are expected to attend.

While in Boston, Dr. Andrade will attend a leadership team meeting with local educators to discuss the opportunity to have an SLS event including a Student Leadership Rally with nationally prominent motivational speakers, at one or more high schools this spring, and the possibility of an area-wide Career & College Recruitment Fair with workshops and motivational speakers involving several schools early next fall. The leadership team meeting is being convened and hosted by Dr. Dale Trevino, Director of Diversity at the Harvard School of Public Health.

USHLI is very grateful to our partners with whom we worked last week in Utah (Jose Enriquez and Latinos in Action), in Nevada (Hilda Gallardo and the Latino Resource Center at UN-Reno), and in Idaho (Margie Gonzalez and the Idaho Commission on Hispanic Affairs).

If you or your school is interested in hosting a SLS event, or if your organization is interested in partnering with USHLI, please contact Dr. Andrade at ushli1@yahoo.com.
