After a highly successful start in Salt Lake City, UT and equally successful event in Reno, NV, the USHLI Student Leadership Series returned to Utah for a third local event in Orem.  The event was held at Utah Valley University with over 1,000 middle school, high school, and college students in attendance.

After a very warm welcome by Utah Valley University President Matthew S. Holland, our featured speakers again included former astronaut Jose Hernandez and the President and Co-founder of CoolSpeak, Carlos Ojeda, Jr. from Philadelphia.  CoolSpeak Co-founder Ernesto Mejia from Chicago conducted leadership development sessions for the students.

In addition to local print media, the event was covered by Telemundo.

USHLI President, Dr. Juan Andrade said, "As in Salt Lake City, this event consisted of a great mixture and blend of themes around the importance of language, culture, music, dance, leadership development, preparing for college, and career planning.   Latinos in Action, a Utah-based non-profit organization, has developed an extraordinarily successful model which we encourage other schools throughout the nation to consider integrating into their respective curriculums. It was a thrill to see students representing approximately 35 middle schools and high schools so excited about the future and their plans to pursue post-secondary education or training.   We look forward to partnering again with Latinos in Action and its tremendous leader Jose Enriquez."
