Who:    United States Hispanic Leadership Institute

Date:    February 17, 2012

Where: Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, Parlor C (Lobby Level), 301 E. North                 Water Street

When:   9:00 a.m.

Why: The United States Hispanic Leadership Institute (USHLI) will announce the launch of Project SED (Students for an Educated Democracy), a civic education "virtual classroom" online that could potentially engage and empower millions of new voters and transform the American electoral process for generations to come.  The virtual classroom will enable anyone with internet access, especially students, to download a 2012 elections curriculum, vote in a mock election ballot, and request and download a voter registration application.

This innovative approach to civic education will enable entire classrooms in high school and/or college, community-based student organizations, and campus-based organizations to participate in the virtual classroom, as well as individuals and families with internet access.  Project SED will fully integrate multi-platform social media features to facilitate and promote maximum promotion.

The Project SED Web site and curriculum will be available online soon.
