Student Leadership Series in Oregon

USHLI, the nation's premier organization training 21st century leaders, will bring hundreds of high school students together in Keizer on Friday, November 4, and college students in Portland on November 4 & 5.  Our Student Leadership Series (SLS) includes a Career & College Recruitment Fair for high school students and leadership development training for college students. 

 

Northeast SpeakersCarlos Ojeda, Jr. one of the most nationally prominent motivational speakers under the age of 40 in the nation, will address high school students attending our Career & College Recruitment Fair at the Keizer Center at 9:00 am on Friday, November 4.  The Fair, which is scheduled from 9 am-1:30 pm, will include breakout sessions on financial education, leadership development, and time with recruiters representing post-secondary institutions and the military.  Admission is free and a light complimentary lunch will be provided.  

 

Adrian Calderon, USHLI Coordinator, Outreach & Program Operations, will conduct the networking session and ice breaker for college students from 6:00-9:00pm on Friday evening, November 4.  A light meal and soft drinks will be provided and a DJ will provide entertainment from 9:00-11:00pm.

 

Northeast Speakers

Our leadership development training program for college students will begin with registration and breakfast at 8:00am on Saturday, November 5, and conclude at 5:00 pm.  Carlos Ojeda, Jr.  will be our opening speaker.  The luncheon speaker will be the Hon. John Haroldson, Benton County District Attorney, the only Latino district attorney in the Northwest region.  Our closing speaker will be Michael Reyes, an actor, playwright, artist, youth organizer, and reigning world champion spoken word poet. 

 

Northeast SpeakersThe training program will provide college student leaders opportunities for networking and sharing best practices, and workshops on financial education and leadership development.  Student leaders will obtain information pertaining to graduate school programs, internships, and possible employment opportunities, and learn more about making good choices pertaining to personal and professional growth, career path, and public or community service.
