2011 Student Leadership Series Calendar Rolls into New Jersey


 

USHLI, the nation's premier organization training 21st Century Leaders, will bring high school and college students together at the Ramada Plaza Hotel on October 7 & 8, 2011, in Newark, NJ. Northeast Speakers

 

Jimmy Cabrera, one of the most prominent motivational speakers in the nation, will address high school students attending our Career/College Recruitment Fair at 9:00am on Friday, October 7. The Fair, is scheduled from 9am-1:30pm, will include breakout sessions on financial aid/literacy, nutrition and healthy living, and time with recruiters representing post-secondary institutions and the various military branches. A light complimentary lunch will be provided.  

 

Cabrera will also conduct the networking session and ice breaker intended for college students from 6:00-9:00pm on Friday evening, and will be our opening speaker on Saturday morning, October 8. This leadership series event will begin at 8am with registration and breakfast, followed by the opening address by Jimmy Cabrera. A variety of workshops will be offered throughout the morning and afternoon.

 

Northeast SpeakersHUD Regional Administrator for New York and New Jersey, the Hon. Adolfo Carrion, Jr., will deliver the luncheon keynote address on Saturday. 

 

This leadership event will offer college students networking opportunities and workshops on financial literacy, nutrition, and leadership development. Students will obtain information pertaining to graduate school programs, internships, and possible employment opportunities. Leaders of student organizations will also have the opportunity to share their best practices, develop better leadership skills, and learn more about making good choices pertaining to personal and professional growth, career advancement, and public or community service.

 Northeast Speakers

Bringing the Northeast Student Leadership Series to a close will be Reyes, a Chicano/Mexicano poet, actor, playwright, artist and youth organizer. He is currently touring the country with his play "Crime Against Humanity", co-written by former Puerto Rican Political Prisoner Luis Rosa. He has also worked directly with famed NuYorican poet Tato Laveria, and is clearly a rising and powerful young talent.
