Educating & Graduating Latino high School Students National Conference

Dear Colleague,

Every month 50,000 Latino youths turn 18 and are eligible to vote in our country. We need to make sure that they are educated. They must stay in high school, complete their studies and graduate in order to avail themselves of post-secondary options whether in a tech field or college. If not, they are likely to become a problem to everyone.

The Council for the Spanish Speaking of Milwaukee and Souder, Betances and Associates are sponsoring this comprehensive conference.

Participants will share best practices on what is working that can increase the competencies of everyone engaged in trying to boost the graduating rates of Latino high school students. What makes the conference unique is that this conference began at the grassroots level and promote by a nonprofit community-based organization.

The workshops will be interactive and engaging. There will be valuable resources to enhance your areas of responsibilities. The topics and themes for the conference workshops are very relevant and timely. They include:

1. Making sense of the demographics

2. Strategies for boosting the high school graduation rates of immigrant students

3. The early college high schools in Houston and Colorado and lessons they hold for other cities

4. Engaging parents as full advocates for their children's education

5. Steps for growing the talents of young Latinas to excel graduate and lead as equals

6. Leading young Latinos from being street smart to intelligent professionals

7. The reading advantage for becoming educated and graduating from high school and beyond

These are but a few of the very relevant topics and themes of this historical event. Bear in mind that the strategies will be based on what has been documented to work.

The time to register is now!

As you move forward in your mission to educate and graduate Latino high school students, invest today by attending this conference and adding to your leadership tool-kit. Key workshops will be made available in Spanish for parents and community leaders who need to promote education, but who are still learning English. This strategy will allow the parents and community elders to understand their role in making the essential progress happen.

If you are an educator and have some responsibility for educating and graduating Latinos and Latinas from high school, this conference is for you! Please attend and bring at least another member of your team. By coming to the event you will be able to network with like-minded passionate educators, youth leaders, parent coordinators and community leaders. The benefits on empowering strategies for urban Latino students so they can excel in school, society and in their communities will make it worthwhile. Listen to the new and established voices for educational reform. Attending the conference is a great investment. Who in your community might benefit from this great training and staff development opportunity? Get them to come as well.

Help us help you help Latino students to become part of the solution and not part of the problem through education. This challenge will be the focus of the conference. That is why we are appealing to you to support this conference.

We need you to join us in making progress with a demographic group that depends on those who have been fortunate enough to leverage educational diplomas and degrees to assist in solving urgent problems and to improve the quality of our lives.

Keynoters will include Dr. Samuel Betances and Consuelo Castillo Kickbush --speakers who brings audiences to their feet with her passion for the success of our community. Mr. Juan Sepulveda, Director of the Education of Latinos for the Obama Administration has also been invited and may present another keynote.

Save the dates of April 5-7th. Join the adventure. Register and let's work so that the next generation of urban Latino youth can win the future through education.
