National Consultation on the Census and Redistricting
A National Consultation on the Census and Redistricting will be the first of five major sessions held during our 29th national conference. The Consultation will convene elected and appointed officials from 20 states and leaders of national organizations on Friday afternoon, February 18, to analyze 2010 Census data on Latino population growth and its impact on redistricting, Latino political capability, and the number of electoral votes per state, as well as opportunities for increasing Latino representation at all levels of government. This process will define the political landscape of the nation for the next 10 years. Leading the Consultation, which is by invitation only, will be Arturo Vargas, Executive Director of NALEO, Juan Cartagena, General Counsel of the Community Service Society of New York, and Ellisa Johnson, U.S. Census Bureau
