Tania

Tania Luviano

The Young Professionals Networking Reception, co-sponsored by Hispanic Pro will again serve to welcome many of our 2011 conference participants from 6-9pm on Thursday, February 17.  This reception, which brings together young professionals from a wide range of occupations and vocations, has become one of the most popular social events associated with our conference.  Participants will enjoy the opportunity to renew acquaintances, make new contacts, listen to some good music, visit with corporate, government, labor, university, and non-profit exhibitors, and meet Tania Luviano, a 5-time Emmy award winning television personality whose career experience includes FOX News Latino, NBC, Telemundo, and Univision.  Complimentary hors d' oeuvres and Coca-Cola products will be provided and MillerCoors LLC will sponsor an open bar.

Our special guest at this reception will be Dr. Emma Sepulveda, an author, newspaper columnist, and professor at the University of Nevada-Reno.  She received our Cesar Chavez Community Service Award last year.  Dr. Sepulveda, who was born in Chile, spent her formative years in Argentina before coming to the United States.  She returned to Chile when the news hit about the mining accident that trapped 33 miners one-half mile below the surface for 39 days.  Dr. Sepulveda was at the site the entire time interviewing the families of the trapped miners and being frequently interviewed by various news sources.    Her book, based on numerous interviews with the families and the miraculous rescue, was recently released in Chile and will soon be released in Spain and translated into English as well.

And, for those who are interested in improving their networking skills, the University of Phoenix will offer a brief training session (30 minutes) at the reception on how to network more effectively.  Our 2011 Young Professionals Networking Reception will surely be our best one ever and everyone is invited to attend.
