Welcome to the University of Washington from the Foundation for International Understanding Through Students (FIUTS)!
Our community is looking forward to welcoming you. FIUTS is a non-profit organization on the University of Washington campus that produces International Student Orientation as well as a variety of events and programs throughout the year. My name is Nicole Comforto, and I am the Manager of Student Programs at FIUTS. For the next eight weeks, I will send you weekly e-mails about various topics to help you prepare for your arrival at the UW. Feel free to e-mail me and our Orientation Assistant Adrienne with any questions. Want to get a head start? You can learn more by visiting the FIUTS Facebook page and the FIUTS Website. We also have tons of information and advice for you compiled by past international students and staff in our online International Student Handbook. |
 | FIUTS Homestay Program |
Hello everyone, my name is Alison Kilkenny and I am the Homestay and Community Relations Coordinator. If you choose to apply for the FIUTS Homestay Program I will be processing your application and matching you with your future homestay host. The FIUTS Homestay program is a great way to make a local connection as soon as you arrive in Seattle! In this program you will spend about one week in the home of a local volunteer host. Your host will pick you up at the airport (if their schedule permits) and provide support for your first few days in the US. FIUTS homestay hosts often become students' home away from home and their first friends in Seattle. If you are not interested in living in someone's home but still want to make a local connection, check out our Friendship Connection Program! Application deadlines: Early Fall Start Students: July 19 Fall Quarter arrivals: August 3 APPLY NOW!Have questions about the Homestay Program? E-mail me or Andrew, Homestay Assistant, with any questions. |
 | Planning Your Arrival |
We recommend that you arrive in Seattle on September 13th or 14th in order to participate in International Student Orientation, which starts on September 15th. Make sure to check the date on your visa before you schedule your flight to Seattle. Most international students can enter the U.S. up to 30 days before September 15th.
Are you a freshman planning to participate in Early Fall Start? If so, visit our Early Fall Start page for recommended arrival dates and other important information! |
