FIUTS has 10 days of fun social events and activities scheduled during Orientation to help introduce you to the Pacific Northwest, American culture, and of course, other students! Orientation Events and Activities are a great way to get involved and start making friends as soon as you arrive. We understand that some students will not be able to attend all events - that's ok, just attend as many as you can!
This year's Social Events and Activities are:
Northgate Shopping, Welcome Night (Homestay and Friendship connection participants only), the Seattle Challenge (a city-wide race),
FIUTS Camp on Whidbey Island, Pub Quiz,
Puyallup Fair, Games Night, Boat Cruise, Mini-World Cup, the Community BBQ and Happy Hour. All activities are open to all international students, graduate and undergraduate, of all ages.
"FIUTS Orientation social events were very valuable to me because they allowed me to get more familiar with the UW, the city of Seattle and the people here. I've also made a lot of friends through these events. My host family, the Hike and overnight Camp, Welcome BBQ, and Rotary Boat Cruise all are my good memories."
Claire Ke Ding, UW International Student
Many activities are free and open to everyone, but some require advance sign-up and a fee that can be paid with cash, check, or traveler's check. You can sign up for these activities at the Greeting Table and on Opening Day. Space is limited at some events so we encourage students to sign up as soon as you arrive on campus. You'll receive a ticket to the events that you sign up and pay for. You will need to show your ticket on the day of the event so please put them in a safe place.
