Hello again! This week, I will introduce the FIUTS Orientation Program for new international students. The FIUTS staff and student facilitators are preparing for your arrival and looking forward to welcoming you next month! |
 |
Greeting Table |
When you arrive on campus, your first stop should be the Greeting Table. The Greeting Table is located in the lobby of the Husky Union Building (HUB) from 10am to 1pm on weekdays from September 11 through September 25. At the Greeting Table you will pick up your University of Washington welcome packet, officially check in, and sign up for the Orientation activities that require a fee. It's also a great place to meet other students and ask questions. The Greeting Table has three stations: Welcome Table, Immigration Check-In, and the Activities Table. You should should visit all three tables, in any order that you choose. Each day at the Greeting Table, student facilitators will also lead an optional campus tour from 11am-12pm. At the Welcome Table, you can pick up your welcome packet with information for new international students, and ask any questions you may have. At the Immigration Check-in, you will officially sign-in at the UW and FIUTS student facilitators will make photocopies of your passport and visa. This step is required by the US Department of Immigration. Finally, at the Activities Table you can learn more about Orientation Events and sign up for the ones that require a small fee such as camp, Pub Quiz, and the Boat Cruise. Check our Orientation Schedule online to find out more about these exciting events! |

Opening Day |
Opening Day on September 16 is the kick-off to Orientation and your official welcome to the University. You'll get a chance to meet some of the approximately 1,000 other new international students, current student facilitators, and hear speakers from FIUTS, UW staff and community members. Opening Day will be held in the Husky Union Building (HUB) Ballroom. Please arrive between 9am and 10am for a buffet breakfast and to visit campus resource tables. The program begins at 10am. After the program ends, you are invited to join a student facilitator for a tour of the University District neighborhood, and your group may choose to have lunch at one of the many restaurants in the area. If your parents are joining you, they are welcome to attend Opening Day. There will be a special question and answer session for parents at 2pm in HUB room 304D with UW and FIUTS staff. |
 |
Info Sessions |
After Opening Day, Orientation continues with ten days of Information Sessions and Social Activities. Info Sessions take place September 21-25. This year we will offer more than 30 sessions on Banking, Seattle Neighborhoods, American Culture, Residence Hall Life, Biking in Seattle, and much more. You will have an opportunity to tour campus facilities and ask questions from current students, UW staff, and community members.
Info Sessions are optional, and you can choose to attend the sessions that are most interesting and relevent to you. You will receive the complete schedule of Info Sessions in the Orientation Program of your welcome packet. | |

Please let me know if you have any questions about the Orientation Program. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
