Hello!
Era Pic

Over the past three weeks, FIUTS has welcomed a new group of more than 1,000 international students to the University of Washington and to the FIUTS community. The 10-day International Student Orientation program is filled with information sessions, events, and activities designed to help new students make friends and adjust to their new home in Seattle.

Photos from Opening Day, Camp, International Welcome Night, and other orientation activities are now featured on the FIUTS web site or on the FIUTS Facebook Page.

Orientation would not be possible without an incredible amount of community support - from our University of Washington partners, our Board of Trustees, the amazing FIUTS Orientation Facilitators, and our corporate sponsors: Bank of America, Lorig, Cell Towns, Washington State Employees Credit Union, Global Law Partners, Expedia, KDDI Mobile, and all of our in-kind supporters. Thanks to each of you for the role you play during orientation, and for all of your support for FIUTS.

The 60th Anniversary events will kick off at CulturalFest and Wednesday Lunch - complete with the traditional spread of PB & J (and pickles and cheese!) CulturalFest is produced by the FIUTS Student Board, and is a showcase of the diversity of cultures represented by international students at the UW. Wednesday Lunch/CulturalFest will run from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the HUB Ballroom, so stop by for a sandwich and travel the world!

CulturalFest and Wednesday Lunch are free and open to everyone, so please join us and bring your family! If you know a teacher who might like to bring their class to CulturalFest, contact Andy Davey.

On Wednesday evening, attend the 60th Anniversary Opening Reception at MOHAI. This lively cocktail reception will be a wonderful opportunity to reunite with friends and celebrate the FIUTS community and the economic and social vitality international students bring to our campus and region.

The 60th Anniversary Celebration will culminate in a Gala and SIlent Auction Event on Saturday night at Ocean City Restaurant in Seattle's International District. Bid on local adventures and items collected from across the globe, enjoy a wonderful Chinese dinner, and celebrate this year's FIUTS awards Recipients. Enjoy musical performances and a keynote address by Raj Manhas, FIUTS Alumnus and former Superintendant of Seattle Public Schools. Do you have a favorite FIUTS photo? FIUTS has thousands of photos in our collection, but we would love to include your favorites in one of our anniversary slide shows or albums!

If you have a photo - or a bunch - send them to us! We'll incorporate them into photo albums and presentations that will be a big part of the celebration. You can send digital files via email to Era or mail copies of your photos to: FIUTS, Box 352233, University of Washington, Seattle, WA 98195.

At the intersection of the University of Washington and the community, FIUTS inspires lifelong engagement through activities that build global understanding.
