Which orientation? Many orientation programs are
offered at the UW for newly admitted students and
scholars. Depending on your level and program you
may have a
number of orientations to attend.
Exchange Student: You should be attending the FIUTS Orientation Program and an IPE Information Session with IPE Advisor, Tina Wong. Undergraduate Student: You should be
attending a
minimum
of TWO orientations: The FIUTS International Student
Orientation and a First Year
Programs Advising and
Orientation Session.
Graduate Student: You will probably
attend two orientations: The FIUTS International
Student
Orientation and a departmental orientation.

International Student Orientation is scheduled for
September
11-21, 2008. We have activities, workshops and
social events planned every day for you. During
orientation you will learn enough
about UW & the U.S. to feel comfortable, meet new
people, and simply have a great time. At orientation,
you will receive information on immigration, health
care issues, personal safety and the fun of living in
Seattle!
The Fall International Student Orientation schedule is
periodically updated so be sure to check the website
for
changes.

It is mandatory to check in with the Office of
International Students and Scholars (ISS) soon after
your arrival to Seattle. You
cannot register for classes until you have
completed a check-in session.
During the month of September, you must pick up an
ISS check-in ticket from FIUTS:
Arriving before September 8th or after the 19th:
FIUTS office, HUB 302B, 10AM-4PM, weekdays.
Arriving September 8-10th & 12th, 15-19th:
FIUTS
Greeting Table, 10AM-1PM weekdays.
The FIUTS Greeting Table will be held on the main
floor
of the Student Husky Union Building (HUB)
Arriving September 11th:
There will be no check-in sessions on this date as it
is Opening Day. Opening Day will be held from 9AM-
1:30PM in the HUB Ballroom.
After September 30th: ISS office, 4th floor of
Schmitz Hall. ISS will
go back to
their
normal check-in procedure and schedule. Visit the ISS Website for
additional
information
about regular check-in times and
procedures.
You must bring the following 3 items
with you to obtain a session ticket and to complete the
check-in session with ISS:
(1) your passport,
(2) your I-20 or DS-2019, and
(3) your I-94, the small white card in your
passport.
Because these 3 items are so important and you will need them upon arrival, we advise you NOT to pack them in your luggage. Keep them with you during your journey so that you can access them easily. |
