Our Life's Work

This week, the University of Washington and the UW Alumni Association have been celebrating Career Discovery Week. FIUTS joined the celebration at Wednesday Lunch, where the question of the week was, "What is your dream job?"

As I walked through the room, I saw "astronaut", "writer", "professor", and even "princess" written on people's name tags. And I was struck by the fact that these (with the exception of "princess") are not only dreams, but possiblities for the students we work with every day. FIUTS students go on to do amazing work around the world, and we are fortunate to play a role in student's lives - lives that will be extraordinary, no matter what career path they choose.

Our local and world communities are enriched by FIUTS alumni, who not only go on to impressive careers, but who carry the FIUTS values of curiosity, cross-cultural friendship, and understanding with them throughout their lives.

Pub Quiz
What is the longest river in Asia? Which country is Muscat the capital of? Join FIUTS for our Winter quarter Pub Quiz, and test your knowledge of the world! According to Wikipedia, a Pub Quiz is "...a quiz held in a pub." A FIUTS Pub Quiz is an all-ages international trivia game night, played in three rounds. Teams of students and community members join together to answer tough questions and show off their knowledge of world geography, history, and current events.

The Winter Quarter Pub Quiz will be held On Friday, March 7, from 5 PM - 7PM at the Irish Emigrant Pub, 5260 University Way NE. Cost: $3 FIUTS Members, $5 Non-members and Community at the door.

In case you're wondering...the longest river in Asia is the Yangtze, and Muscat is the capital of Oman.

In the article entitled, For the Love of Culture: Why FIUTS Isn't Only for International Students, Daily writer Chantal Anderson interviewed FIUTS students and community members and explored FIUTS' role at the University of Washington and in our region.
