Greetings!

Hello again from the staff at Chesapeake Physical and Aquatic Therapy. Summer is in full swing and the 4th is just a few days away! For many of us, that means, barbecues, the beach, and great times with friends and family. We would like to wish you and your family a happy and healthy summer. In this issue we are pleased to spotlight Paula Mastboom-Bell, who recently took over as director in our Severna Park office. You will also find some great tips for your back and your posture during your favorite summertime activities. Enjoy, and as always, your feedback is welcomed and appreciated!

CPAT Announces New Director in Severna Park!

Welcome Paula!

CPAT is pleased to announce that Paula Mastboom- Bell has been named the new director of Chesapeake Physical and Aquatic Therapy in Severna Park. We are pleased that our previous director, Christi, is still a vital part of our team in Severna Park and will still be with us treating patients both in the pool and on land. Christi needed to limit her hours a bit and therefore has relinquished the director role to Paula. Paula received her physical therapy education in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and has worked in both hospitals and outpatient clinics for over 7 years. She has been with Chesapeake Physical and Aquatic Therapy since October 2005 as a part of our Columbia team. Paula brings a great deal of knowledge and hands-on experience to Severna Park and is looking forward to developing a diverse caseload of orthopedic patients. To schedule an appointment with Paula please stop by our Severna Park office, or call 410-315-9080.

The "Not-so" Constant Gardener

Maintaining good posture and habits this summer

Whether it's gardening, pool maintenance, tree trimming, or building sand castles, odds are we will all be hard at work at our favorite activities this summer. While most of these activities seem benign, things can go bad in a hurry if you're not careful. Proper posture and body mechanics can go a long way to preventing serious back and neck injuries. We've all heard "bend your knees when you lift" before, but how much do we really know about our posture and proper lifting mechanics? If you're like most people, that may the extent of it. Picking those weeds can prove to be more problematic for you than your garden if you're not careful! For more helpful hints, please click on the picture or this article to view informative articles on these topics. Or for more information,or to get advice on how to specifically help your posture, please contact one of our clinics to speak with a therapist and set up an evaluation.

CPAT at "The Yard"

CPAT staff to attend O's game

CPAT is pleased to be hosting "A Day at The Yard" for the third year in a row for our staff. As many of you have seen, our staff at CPAT is first rate, and we are happy to be taking the afternoon and evening off to enjoy a pre-game party and ball game on Thursday, July 13th! If you happen to be at the yard that day, come join the gang at Pickles Pub pre- game, or look up and behind home plate for our group come game time! Feel free to come up and say hi, but remember, it's an evening off, so no mobilizations, myofascial release, or massages! (And we promise not to ask if you've done your exercises either!)

Thank you again for subscribing to our newsletter! We hope you enjoy your summer!

Sincerely,
